Terms and conditions


In general

Odin Travel is an Icelandic tour operator that offers guided day trips in the Vestmanna Islands.


Odin Travel reserves the right to change routes, itineraries, or schedules without notice if necessary. Odin Travel is not responsible for damages in the event of uncontrollable circumstances, such as natural disasters, strikes, weather, war, or other causes beyond Odin Travel's control. Such damages and costs are the personal responsibility of the traveler. We advise all customers to have travel insurance as they travel at their own risk for trips and transfers.


As a customer, you agree to comply with and are legally bound by our terms and conditions. You are responsible for reading our terms and conditions and informing everyone in your party of them before you go on our tours.


Product delivery

The customer(s) will receive a booking confirmation and a receipt for the purchase of our tour(s). Customer(s) must present the receipt electronically or provide it in printed form when boarding our buses. Customers also receive a booking number needed to change or cancel a booking.


It is the customer's responsibility to fill in all information. Suppose they did not complete all the information or filled it in incorrectly during the booking process. In that case, the customer is responsible for logging in to the customer portal to update the information or contact our customer service at info@odintravel.is with updated information. Suppose customers fail to update information in the customer portal or contact customer support in time. In that case, Odin Travel accepts no responsibility for any damages or errors.


Departures and pickups

Departures in Vestmannaeyjar are from the company's headquarters at Básaskersbryggju 6 and at Hotel Vestmannaeyjar at the advertised departure times.


It is the customer's responsibility to arrive at the specified designated pickup location at the exact time specified on the delivery note. If customers do not comply with these conditions, Odin Travel reserves the right to cancel the booking. Odin Travel may, in rare cases, provide customers with free rescheduling or rebooking, in which case no refund, whether in full or in part, will be issued.


On board and during the tour

Customers are responsible for behaving according to normal social standards towards other passengers and staff on and off the bus during visits. The company reserves the right to refuse or terminate service to any customer without any obligation to explain or provide a reason in the event of unacceptable behavior (see cases below). Furthermore, the company also has the right to refuse service and any further communication, as well as the right to communicate with the appropriate government agencies in all cases pertaining to, but not limited to:

  • Physical, sexual, and verbal harassment toward staff or fellow travelers.
  • Threatening, slandering, or slandering staff or a fellow passenger.
  • Physical violence or harm to others and oneself.
  • Discrimination based on skin color, race, gender expression and identity, gender, physical appearance, age, religion, sexual orientation, or bigotry.
  • Fraud, theft, or intent to defraud the company.

Please note that any aggressive or different means of communication, including phone and email, will not be entertained and may result in the cancellation of your tour without any notice.


Icelandic law requires that every passenger fasten their seat belts while on board. Failure to comply with the law may result in expulsion from the bus.

Customers are given a certain amount of time to visit each of the stops - this time is given by the tour guide before getting off the bus at each stop. It is the customer's responsibility to return to the bus on time. If customers act and are delayed or missing, Odin Travel reserves the right to continue the trip as scheduled. In such cases, customers must find other means of transportation at their own expense. Odin Travel will not provide any partial or full refund for the trip or transportation used to return to the customer's accommodation. Customers must meet us at our office during business hours to collect any personal belongings that may be left on the bus.

Iceland is known for its ever-changing weather. It is the customer's responsibility to check the forecast for the trip and dress accordingly. We always recommend wearing warm, sturdy, windproof, and waterproof clothes during the trips - all year round in Iceland. Our tours include short or medium walks from the bus to viewpoints/points of interest. Odin Travel will not provide any equipment or clothing.


Odin Travel takes no responsibility for damage, theft, or costs incurred during the trip. Such damages and costs are the personal responsibility of the traveler. We advise all customers to have travel insurance as they travel at their own risk for trips and transfers.


Traveling with young children

Odin Travel reserves the right to restrict children under the age of 8 from going on our tours. Our tours are generally not suitable for young children. Please get in touch with our office for further information and advice.


Right of cancellation/right of return and refund

For rescheduling, rebooking, and cancellation, please get in touch with us at Odin Travel via the email address info@odintravel.is and include the booking number.


Suppose Odin Travel cancels any tour due to adverse weather conditions, technical difficulties, or otherwise beyond our control. In that case, you, the customer, will be invited to:

  • Change the trip to another day of your choice (free of charge and subject to availability).
  • Or rebook for another trip (subject to payment of the amount due for the trip if applicable and subject to availability).
  • Or get a full refund.


Odin Travel reserves the right to cancel a booking when a trip was open for booking but should not have been available. In that case, the customers will receive a full refund if rescheduling is impossible.

All customer cancellations must be reported by email to info@odintravel.is at least 24 hours before the delivery time.

  • A full refund will be made if Odin Travel receives a customer's cancellation request more than 24 hours in advance.
  • If Odin Travel receives a customer's cancellation request less than 24 hours in advance or if the customer is a "no-show," the trip will be charged at full price.

Refunds

As a customer of Odin Travel products, you are responsible for taking out personal health and travel insurance. Iceland is known for its ever-changing weather, and unforeseen cancellations due to weather can occur at very short notice. This section of our terms aims to present issues that make it clear whether customers are entitled to a refund.


Below is a complete list of cases and how the refund policy would apply:


Cancellation:

  • The customers who contact us at Odin Travel by email/phone/via the merchant platform at least 24 hours before departure will receive a full refund.
  • Odin Travel cancels due to too few passengers, and the customer cannot find a new suitable time for the trip; the customer will get a full refund.
  • Odin Travel cancels due to bad weather, and customers cannot reschedule or rebook for another trip; the customer will get a full refund.


No show

In cases where Odin Travel provided the customer with the wrong pickup location, the customer can get a full refund or another booking free of charge.


Suppose the customer cannot show up on time and has not notified Odin Travel within 24 hours in advance. In that case, Odin Travel will charge a full price. Odin Travel does not reimburse taxis or other modes of transport for late customers.


Price and payment

Please note that online prices are subject to change without notice. The applicable fee for a trip booked through our website is always shown when you enter your name and contact details at check-out. The official price list is always the one published in our brochure. While the pamphlet is valid, the customer can request to book for this price. The price on our website may differ from the official price list. All prices are in Icelandic ISK and include VAT.


All rides and activities must be fully paid for before boarding the bus to secure your seat. If your booking requires additional payment, it will be processed over the phone by our customer service with credit card details or at our office. Odin Travel reserves the right to cancel your booking if the due payment is missing. 


Confidentiality

The seller keeps all information from the buyer concerning the purchase confidential. This confidentiality includes the customer's personal contact information and credit card. Odin Travel does not provide third parties with any information without the customer's consent.
