Alfred is one of our guides. He grew up on Heimaey and knows the island and its history by heart.

Alfred was 14 years old when the eruption in 1973 took place. He was one of the 5300 inhabitants who had to be quickly evacuated from the Westman Islands on the fateful night of the eruption.

Alfred is well known for his fine storytelling ability. Enjoy his spellbinding recounting of those dramatic events in January 1973.
